ABOUT US

BASI is a company committed to the environment, ecosystem regeneration, and rural restoration through agroecology-based models.

OUR JOURNEY: CULTIVATING SUSTAINABLE LANDSCAPES

At BASI, our story is deeply intertwined with the Earth itself. Our journey into the world of agroecology and regenerative landscaping has been a testament to our commitment to sustainability, biodiversity, and the vital connection between humans and the land.

Founding Roots

Our company was founded by a couple of passionate individuals who shared a common vision: to transform landscapes into thriving ecosystems that echo with the rhythms of nature. It all began with the purchase of a 13-hectare terrain in rural Galicia, Spain, and a collective and profound understanding of the need for change in the way we interact with our environment.

As we delved deeper into the world of sustainable land management, we discovered the profound wisdom of agroecology and its holistic approach to farming and land stewardship.

Embracing the principle of agroecology, we set out to create a company that would not only focus on production and soil regeneration in our own land but also provide regenerative designs for all types of landscapes, urban and rural alike. We aim to show that, even on a small balcony, you can create an aesthetical ecosystem benefiting biodiversity and even some sustainable food incomes.

Our Expertise

What sets us apart is our unwavering commitment to regeneration. We don't just design landscapes; we nurture life. We prioritize biodiversity, sustainable agriculture, and holistic land management both in our own terrain and in every project we undertake. Our goal is to leave a lasting legacy of thriving ecosystems for generations to come. Over the years, we've honed our expertise in agroecology, permaculture, holistic land management, and regenerative practices. Our team of dedicated professionals combines knowledge from various fields to craft landscapes that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional ecosystems.

THE TERRAIN

At our terrain, we have woven a tapestry of activities deeply rooted in the principles of agroecology. Our various projects coexist in harmony and mutually benefit from the biological diversity they contribute to:

Holistic Land Management

Our approach begins with holistic land management, where we view our terrain as a dynamic and interconnected whole. We prioritise soil health, pasture vitality, and the well-being of our animals, fostering a harmonious relationship between land, livestock, and humans.

Animal Grazing Rotation

Our rotational grazing system is a symphony of balance. We move our animals strategically across pastures and within our food forests, allowing the land to rest and regenerate while promoting nutrient cycling and healthy grasslands. It's a dance that both sustains and rejuvenates.

Food Forests

Within our landscape, we've carefully nurtured thriving food forests. These lush and biodiverse ecosystems mimic the resilience of natural forests while offering a bounty of perennial, edible plants.

Vegetable Garden

In our vegetable garden, we've embraced the principles of no-till farming. By avoiding disruptive tillage, we protect soil structure, reduce erosion, and enhance carbon sequestration, resulting in healthier and more resilient soils. We also embrace permaculture principles to create very productive, resilient, low-maintenance agricultural systems that mimic natural ecosystems.

Ecological Apiculture

Our passion for ecological apiculture is evident in our thriving beehives. We tend to our bees with care, recognizing their crucial role in pollination and the delicate balance of our ecosystem. Their honey, a gift from the land, reflects the vitality of our terrain.

Water Management

We use advanced water management systems that capture and store rainwater, recharge groundwater levels, reduce runoff, and mitigate soil erosion. Our goal is to reduce reliance on limited water resources for irrigation and promote responsible water use.
